Reliable sun from spring to autumn, short transfers from Faro airport and beaches for every mood, from busy to almost empty.
Portugal
Lisbon
One of the easiest European capitals for a short trip: compact, affordable by Western European standards and pleasant even in winter.
Portugal

A two or three night trip works perfectly here. Everything worth seeing sits within a 30 minute walk of the river.

If you cannot decide between a city break and the coast, this settles the argument without a second flight.
Spain
Mallorca
Everything is within an hour's drive, which makes it unusually efficient for a one week trip with mixed interests.
Greece
Crete
You get a proper beach holiday and a road trip in the same week, with prices that still feel reasonable in shoulder season.
Flight search
Ready to find your flight?
Once you have a destination in mind, this is where the flight search lives. Compare dates, check what a route realistically costs, and see whether flying midweek changes the picture.
Be flexible with dates
Midweek departures are usually cheaper than Friday and Sunday. Shifting a trip by one day can change the fare more than any booking trick.
Check nearby airports
A second airport within an hour often opens up a different set of routes, especially for short breaks.
Book the flight first
Flights are the least flexible part of a trip. Once they are set, accommodation and everything else follows easily.
